I've had numerous professional drivers that compete in FormulaD that are sponsored by CX racing.. everything from turbos to whatever they sell and haven't had an issue
Jeff Jones (before he got the lsx s14) had an s14 with a 2jz bottom end with a 1jz head (1.5jz) he used their manifold and turbos, harder then most street drivers ever would and he rarely had issues. Turbo made good power, responded nice and he normally kept a turbo for a season or two before it was worn out
CX has stepped up quality a lot lately, especially with more drivers in semi pro and pro events getting noticed, they actually listen to the feedback from drivers and revise as needed

i've used their FMIC on a few different setups & i like their universal charge piping kits, tbolts & reinforced couplers... well price & good bang for buck.
as for their turbos..... dunno if I would mess with that.

You know good and well that their presence in Formula D doesn't mean that their quality of their track cars trickles down to the everyday purchaser. C'mon!! Don't you know how that business model works.?!?!
Thanks for the responses guys. This is gonna be my first build and I didn't wanna spend any crazy amount of money because I wanna save up for my next build. It's just gonna be to get some experience and knowledge for future builds. Plus I'm only 19 so I don't have huge amounts of cash right now seeing as how I'm going to school too. The car is just a dd car that I wanted to get some extra kick out of. The motor however is a b18c5 and I don't know if I wanna risk blowing it up with the cheaper turbo like you guys said. What are the chances of getting a bad turbo with CX? The internals and valve train will be stock for now.
Thanks once again
Thanks once again
hit or miss game. the turbo hopefully will hold together and at the minimal smoke and burn oil. if you get a bad one itll eat itself or blow up shooting parts through your cooler into the motor. who knows. I put 25k on one and ran it hard
on the other hand sell the ebay turbo locally and get a precision for 500$ brand new

For my db1 dd teg ive been thinking abour buying a full CX kit, keeping the cast mani, intercooler/piping, downpipe, selling everything else, then going garrett and tial.
these threads are still popping up on a weekly if not daily basis. If you buy cheap junk in the end you get cheap junk results and spend twice as much replacing the cheap junk with real parts. Do it right the first time or dont bother. A used Garrett wouldd still be better than a new CX racing or any other chinese POS. You can get away with the cheap cast logs you find on ebay and even the intercoolers work. hell the BOV's work but when it comes to the turbo and wastegate get real stuff
