yeah i feel the same charlie. i currently use the fmic and piping kit. actually it performed a bit better than my old precision 600 core. my iat went down a bit and i had to add some fuel above 7000 rpm. as far as im concerned needed to add a bit of fuel to keep the same afr is a good thing, indicating your making more power.

the turbo's?.......eh

Sorry but that is NOT a garrett turbocharger. You can tell just by looking at it that its a cheap crappy chinese turbo.

You need to stop it right now. You're a turbo expert now in a few shorts weeks (new to the FI)?

Here's what an exploding Garrett does.. This was just your typical T3/T04E (50-60 "trim"). Notice how the housing contained the explosive effects, not scatter them in the engine bay, except at 1:09, where it was over 120psi of boost pressure at speeds of over 500,000rpms, even then, it wasn't a complete destruction.

I don't care what that kid says and lies about. The turbo that exploded was NOT Garrett built turbo and tried giving little to no info on his build thread so one could assume out of the box Garrett. Last time I checked, once you completely modify wheels and change them out, it is no longer "authentic". Do none of you kids these days know how to use context clues?!?

Speaking of which, can one of you boys tell me how to set that video "TheShodan" provided as my screen saver on my computer? (And NO, I am not giving you my IP address, I learned that the hard way 10-15 years ago...)

So consensus is crap Turbo......but what about the rest....is it worth it too buy the kit, junk the turbo and WG...than buy used quality if going on a budget SOHC?

Or would everyone just stay away from them completely...and scour the used section?

Does anyone actually have any negative experiences here, or is it just the usual rhetoric regarding Chinese products (and now the ever credible youtube videos)?

Obviously, they're not the best quality but are they really that bad? It's seems they're popping up all over the domestic world as people are using $400 eBay turbos with a $300 junkyard V8 and getting their money's worth with minimal hassle.

From my experiences in both the automotive and manufacturing fields, it seems the Chinese have very poor initial quality, but improve over time as quality issues are addressed.

I'll be honest with you. Over the last couple of years, these Grey market counterfeit turbos (Yes, I labeled them as such and will continue to do so ), are getting better than they had even 5 years ago. But before you all take that comment too far, they are still complete **** compared to the OEM manufacturers. Call it rhetoric or what have you, but I've personally imploded these units on a testing turbo dynomometer several times. I apologize if I don't feel its prudent to sneak in a video at a test facility to satisfy the skeptical, but I'm to a point I'm not worried about others about it. They are crap, will continue to be crap, and I have 2 holding the back door open. One is a Godspeed, and the other is a CX Racing.

Rationalize their use if you must to try and use them. I have said, and continue to say simply; Caveat Emptor.

You should come into the suspension forum and repeat this in every Function & Form thread.

Idk if any of those videos are in the the threads in the FAQ but if they aren't it might be a good idea to put this up there with the other eBay turbo thread so that noobs and cheap asses can see what an eBay turbo will do when it fails.

Not everyone is a noob or cheap ***, I hate people who say that. Some of us are just people who are trying to get into forced induction and don't wanna make the big leap of spending 2000$ or more just to mess something up. Some people just want to get some experience. Some people also may not have the funds. Myself for example, I'm a 19 year old university student living on my own who just wants to get some experience with forced induction and maybe a build under my belt. I am not a cheap ***, yes i may be a noob but certainly not a cheap ***. I don't think a b18c5 is cheap in any way or form. I may not have the money that older people with careers have but I'm still holding my own. There's no need to bash on people and scare them away.
Sorry for the rant but I just hate people who keep doing this, I see it on a lot of threads

Then I'll go ahead and be the a$$hole. If you don't have the money right now, and want to get some experience in forced induction, then do what we did when we were 19 and in college; wait until you graduate, work, learn and understand, and get the right parts the first time, and stop trying to ice-skate up-hill with eBay garbage. I hate it when young people say that they just want the experience, buy the cheaper **** destroying the industry in the name of "interest" , then bitch, complain, blame, then try to sue someone for their mistakes because they don't want to be culpable for their actions as they go through their "learning experience".

Hold your own. Graduate, work, and earn your way up. Or don't... then search for someone that will be silly enough to try and fix and rebuild the crap that you purchase within 6 months to a year. You can then split your education refund stipend between rent and replacing parts.

You hate people who trash your eBay turbo crap threads, I hate when young people try to defend their worthless bullsh!t. Quid Pro Quo.

Shodan I respect you but I'm not in any way shape or form defending this brand or turbo, sorry if it came off that way. I just wanted some info as to what peoples experience with it was and since it looks like it's not good I will not be purchasing it. I am saving up for reputable parts but of course I'll try saving money any where I can. I was just trying to get info on a brand that I didn't know too much about and thank you for providing the info

No offense taken at all. We simply have a difference of opinion. From experience I can honestly say.... save your money, and get the right parts so that you never regret it.
