Custom Turbo Setup: GSR
A local shop wants $7000 to do a nice custom setup. What should I expect with this much money involved. He said I will easily hit 12s. I also know that it is going to be on the stock ECU. Is this going to be a problem? Please leave any and all input. TIA

Re: Custom Turbo Setup: GSR (KhRoNiX)
find out EXACTLY what they will be putting in and performing on your car. Get a list. It's really too vague to tell if it's worth it right now. $7k is quite a lot, so I'm guessing that they will be dropping the transmission and putting in a clutch, LSD, etc...? Don't proceed until you get a breakdown of what they are putting in!

Re: Custom Turbo Setup: GSR (2K_TEG)
They better go giving you a new set of rods, valves, iron sleeves, pistons, and that turbo kit. You can get damn good turbo kits for 3200 and shops should install em for about 500 at most. So that leaves your with 3300 bones to do whatever. Find out what exactly they are doing. Sounds pretty steep to me if its just a turbo kit.

What shop? Its not John Brown is it?
Shops that I know are good and reputable are South Florida Performance-south Miami and TopSpeed-Naples.
Anybody else I wouldn't trust. For 7 grand you should almost hit 11's not just break 12's.

For pistons, chech out http://www.raceeng.com, I believe they are def alot cheaper than $650. As for the VAFC, you can prob find a used one for under $300. Just tryin to save you a bit of money.
With that setup, assuming its a car that weighs less than 2500lbs with you in it and some 24.5x13" slicks, should be no prob. to the 11's.

The website doesn't work because it included the comma in the link. [url]http://www.raceeng.com/[url].
Most of those are good prices, I guess. I am pretty sure you can get the Vortech FMU for $150 straight from Vortech. You could probably get a new VAFC for ~$300. Might want to upgrade the wastegate to a Tial, since a lot of people have experienced boost creep with the Deltagate.

Re: Custom Turbo Setup: GSR (FIxALPHA)
How exactly do you get 2500lbs w/ driver for a 2000 GSR? Stock curb weight is around 2650, plus, say, a 150lb driver. Now you have 2800. Where'd the extra 300lb go?

Re: Custom Turbo Setup: GSR (DroppedGSR)
I think thats a kinda shitty deal...learn to do your own work and save $$$$$$$$$$.
You should just get a damn Drag 3 Kit and a Inline Pro Headgasket and a Hondata 4B and take the other 3 Grand and build a shortblock on the side.
Suprdave
PS: Built Motor can get fucked up with shitty tuning...
