Default Is a custom kit always a better way to go?

I've searched a lot and read a lot on here about turbo kits, but I still have a question and wanted to see what people who have done it before have to say.

I've been considering turboing my car and noticed there a lot more options these days when piecing together your own kit. However with that said, I also noticed you can get the Drag kit for $2600 shipped these days.

I've pieced together several different set ups and have not been able to match what comes in Drag's kit for $2600 or less dollars. I just want to make my car faster by a noticable amount, Im not looking to break any records or go insane or anything, so I really think a Drag kit would suffice.

So I guess my question is, is it worth it to piece together my own kit, spend a few hundred extra dollars, just for making maybe a little bit more power and having a little bit nicer components?

BTW, when I talk about $2600, Im not including injectors, hondata, tuning etc, because that's a given regardless.

don't forget.. the turbo kits have all the engineering done for you... what mean is that the parts are somewhat guranteed to fit... i.e. if u get a manifold and dp from different sources.. they won't fit. this is just a reason why.. if you're not too savy with all the turbo stuff.

u can spend less money if u piece together...with some USED parts that is
i spent a little under 2Gs on my whole setup(everything) with only a few used parts

DRAG mani (used)
Turbonetics t3/t4(used)
3in DP w/flex(used)
SpoolinPerformance IC Pipes(new)
Tial 38mm WG(new)
Dumptube(used)
Greddy S BOV(used)
JRC 6in IC(new)
RC 550cc injectors(new)
walbro255hp(new)
oil feed/return lines(new)
all tbolt clamps and couplers(new)
magnaflow 3in turbo muffler(new)
dynomax 3in resonator(new)
welded exhaust at local shop

running the car streettuned on crome

people on here i bought new stuff from:

fast-turbo
camp1320
spoolinperformance
kteller
johnnyracecar

if i had alot of money at the moment though i would probably got a kit instead like peakboost or fabworks. the drag kits are nice and a good deal. last time b16aef9 quoted me 2500 for the whole kit with tial WG upgrade with no fmu and check valves. I never had that much money to spend at one time though. Good thing about piecing together a kit is u buy the parts when u have money and not spend a ton and be broke afterwards.
