Default CTR cams and Turbo

Is CTRcams a better choice over ITR/GSR cams for turbo app?

What companies make a cam str8 for Turbo applications?

How agressive is the CTR cams on boosted motors?

CTR cams are recommended for n/a applications. i wouldnt see the point in using it with a turbo application. you would be better off with the skunk2 turbo cams

I'm in a similar situation. I started building my car mildy for N/A but now am going FI. Is it a big deal to keep the R cams in there or should I swap them out? I have adj cam gears to dial out overlap if that matters. Sorry to jack thread, just trying to shed some light on the R cam'd boosted cars.

CTR and ITR cams are identical unless you have 00-01 CTR cams then the intake cam has slightly higher duration .3 i think..from what i hear and have read gsr cams are the way to go when going FI..thats if you want use OEM cams

Pretty damn close, and I'm using CTR anyway, you assumed I was using ITR. I've always heard GSR's are the best for boost for OEM cams.

BTW> Those threads are good... I think i'll keep the R cams.

Why do people get so mad when other says search?
I also provided links to other discussions about type r cams.

Listen! Type r cams are good, much better than regular Gsr cams, IMO.

I had gsr cams in and ran it for about 6 months. Then I put Type r cams in and off the bat I noticed a difference. My assometer told me it was faster. Sorry I do not have any dyno plots of before and after. I only have dyno plots with type r cams. People talk about blah blah, overlap this and overlap that... Blah. People should be talking about duration on turbo cars.

I agree with Colin here! I have recently been told by a VERY VERY knowledgable engine builder and head porter that Type R cams are very good but not only him but another very well respected Tuner and engine builder with a Major race team said the Type R cams had tested very well. I plan to swap my Si Cams for some Type R cams to see if there is a difference

I was specifically told ITR cams and I figured he meant 97-98 ITR specs adn not the 2000-2001 spec which the Intake is same as CTR many have stated. The tthing is the CTR cam has 3 degrees more duration that an ITR intake cam which doesn't seem like alot BUT the opening and closing events are very different also. I don;t have REAL DATA myself, just my tuner swapped out his GSR to Type R cams with no gains he said, I don;t know how much was done when he swapped them out such as additional tuning, I don;'t think he retuned the gears which would make a BIG difference I feel.

That is why I have never replied anything on his posts. I didn't like the way he ask for answers with some " you have to reply attitude". He has been asking all kinds of dreamful questions with limited parts and fabrication on his setup in FI and EG forum.
Dude, if you want answer, be nice and not everyone will tell you how to go fast.

I spoke to Skunk when these cams were first released, these are for a low boost street app only , anything with a small or medium size turbo running 15psi or less and 8k rpm or less. The cams are actually less aggressive than stock Si cams, they are similar to Automatic JDM VTEC cams, low lift and short duration. I called and told them my goal was 550whp or so with 25psi and running up to 9500 rpms, they said this cam is not for me and will definately start dropping off in power above 8000rpm. i was sa to hear since I waited awhile for their cams. Stock cams have proven to be the best but Brad aka MAX_CFM states he has a turbo cam that makes POWER!

If i just stick with the GSR cams can you just drop it in and be fine without messing with the cam gears? or should you tune a little bit with it. I understand that its recommended with the CTR cams.
