crx turbo-let me know what you think

damn man looks really good! For the intercooler it is in a position that its not gonna get much air flow so your IAT is going to be pretty high. If you had a hood scoop or something it would be better than your current setup in my opinion.

ya im trying to think how/where to put a scoop i was thinking underneath then have the back of the hood up to let the air out. any ideas?

You could make a front dam to be able to route air up into the intercooler. This isn't a subaru WRX/STI that can just use a hood scoop and hope for the best. Even those guys go to a front mount intercooler when going that large of a turbocharger.

well i have a big radiator at the front (got a pic but wont let me put it up for some reason) so there wasnt alot of space left, then we come up with that. do you think i could put a fan underneath it (push type)?

ya i think ill go with the front mount. it has caused me alot of hassle with things being in the way. the intercooler is big (very thick) do you rate the godspeed intercoolers with the inlet and outlet pipes on the same side? because how the turbo is positioned itll be a struggle to get the pipe to the passanger side.

as someone mentioned, you may benefit better from a liquid to air set-up

I've had a look and I've found a couple of cars doing it. There's a 200sx with a intercooler flat like mine with fans on with 590hp.

darton sleeves
je 8.0.1 pistons i think.
eagle rod
moroso sump
supertech valves,springs,retainers
b18 cams
skunk2 cam pulleys
bmcrace intake manifold
id1000cc injectors
blox 76mm tb
custom radiator,intercooler,exhaust
garrett 3040 bb
turbosmart dump valve
tial wastegate
rywire engine harness
rywire c.o.p package aem
bosch 044 fuel pump
turbosmart fpr
im looking for around 500hp

Sounds pretty nice but if you get stuck in traffic and things like that I'd imagine your chances for pushing hot air through that intercooler will be heightened exponentially.

Re: crx turbo-let me know what you think
i doubt he will be "stuck" in traffic anywhere with that thing
you need to know exactly which pistons are in there, if they are 8.0:1 then I doubt you will run into dentonation issues unless you are maxing out that turbo. If your goal is 400whp and it makes that with that setup Id say leave it alone if you dont wish to change it to a front mount. That thing is sleeper as **** with nothing sticking out the bumper

i am 99% sure there 8.0.1 pistons. ya i want about 520hp so about 430whp something like that. theres a couple of lambos and porsches round by me and some nice long roads so i wanna surprise them .i shouldnt get stuck in traffic its going to be a weekend car so hopefully there wont be alot of traffic about.
i know its off topic but do you know where or has anyone got a spare nut off the rockers i noticed the other day one is missing they must have left it off when putting the valves and stuff in.

Re: crx turbo-let me know what you think
how much did you have to cut away at the front?
the main trouble i have doing that is if you look at my pictures my turbos facing the other way (to big to go the other way the waste gates in the way) so id struggle to get the piping to the inlet side of the intercooler without having long turbo pipes or to low.

Re: crx turbo-let me know what you think
I had to open out the area where the charge pipe connects to the inter cooler, it wasn't a lot and the metal removed isn't integral to the structural rigidity of the chassis.
You may want to look at being creative with the way the turbo mounts to the manifold, this may allow you to clock the turbo and have cold side the other way around, this also creates a much improved path for the down pipe.
I modified the radiator support a little to shift the Fluidyne towards the head light, I hate tilting radiators back or twisting them to make them clear, just needs some thought and they will drop in and there is plenty of room for the rad shroud.
A friend will also use the same set-up but with a GT35 as he wants 500hp, it all fits the same as mine even with the larger turbo.
This is my set-up

Re: crx turbo-let me know what you think
Ur setup looks nice, my manifold Is a full race one so I ant getting rid of it looks stunning but for some reason they have welded the flange (tilted) it the wrong way if you know what I mean so there is no way of mounting the turbo the other way without changing the manifold oh and the turbo also hits the block so u can't start the bolts and cuz of that the turbo gets in the way of the radiator that's y I've have a big one at the front.
I'm goin to put it together and see how it performs
