Default CP Ring Orientation?

Ok, im about to go drop my pistons in my motor (84.5mm b18a1)

my dad says i need to have the top ring gap inline with the wrist pin, then the bottom ring 180 of that.

he says he's always put the rings opposite the part of the piston that rocks and has never had problems... anyone have a pic or a better idea?
