Default CP ring gap question

What ring gaps to use on CP Pistons on d16 w/ .020 overbore. I called Cp and they told me .016 for the top and .018 for the 2nd ring and oil control ring so it doesn't over lap?
After a search I saw most did 18 on the top and 16 on the bottom? Any suggestions?

the top ring gap should be left open about .001-.002 more than the second ring due to the higher heat expansion of the top ring

ring gap will also vary from the power output of a motor
less power=less heat=less gap (to a certain extent)

I 'am hoping around 250ish. 15 pounds on the Greddy kit. I talked to Earl he says bigger on top and CP says bigger on the bottom? They both have good theory behind there thoughts. I don't know I just want to be right.
