Hopefully the least amt of downtime as possible. It shouldn't take more than a couple days to put the block in. No beater but theres 4 cars in my house if worst comes to worst ill use my dads for a day.

I am not sure. My shop teacher told me this as well as a couple of mechanics I know. Probably better to paly it safe.

Yes, the crank will warp if you leave it on it's side. Stand that thing up! I made the mistake of leaving my crank flat; when we put it in, it would spin free, but then would "stick". It's probably because the crank weighs a bit, and since it's uneven, gravity pulls the portions of the crank that aren't in contact with the ground. You can probably have it straigtened.
