I never run less than half a tank at the track. I saw a thread on here where someone didnt have enough gas and when they made a pass the fuel pump sucked in some air and he blew his motor.

I think you would have to have a lot less than half tank with a stock location pickup. I would notice my old turbo single cam would run .5-.75 AFR points leaner if the gauge was reading just under the red line. Im sure if i ripped some long corners or something it would have gone too lean but I was careful when it was that low.

I have had the car lean out in 4th gear at the track due to a low fuel level in the tank. I pumped in 2 gallons and the problem went away. This was with a 255lph walbro. I've had it happen with 1/4 tank on the fuel gauge.
