Default Copper head gasket after engine build?

I just started ordering internals for when I build my motor. I plan to be running these components:

JE Pro 9:1 pistons w/ floating pins
Eagle "Specialty" forged rods
Golden Eagle "Gorilla" Sleeves
Either Crower or Webcam complete valve train
RC 550's w/ Hondata 2b or higher (whatever I can find a deal on at the time)
Everything Blueprinted & Balanced, bore 20 over, decked, mild P&P job

The question is: Should I get a copper head gasket, and if so what kind, and why?

if you're resleeving it why dont you go up to 84mm ? 81.5mm is not a lot...esp if you get sleeved you can run up to 84 fine.

I had bad luck with an SCE copper head gasket. Later I found out that your head and block have to be ringed and grooved to get a good seal. I also read that they are not intended for longevity, pretty much track only.

Just my experience

the gem sleeves are called godzilla sleeves
and when you sleeve to 84mm ask them to do a step deck on the block and give an extra crush on the head gasket that gem says works really good.

immortal - I just don't want to go that extreme, really. I just want the the sleeves to be strong enough for around 20 psi (once I get bigger injectors to handle it, of course)

turbosol - so you're saying to stick to a factory head gasket?

BTW, what the hell is a "gem" sleeve, or is it just another name for the gorilla sleeves?

GEM just stands for Golden Eagle Mfg and they call their sleeves "godzilla sleeves"

Copper head casts are strong, the only bad thing bout them is that sometimes have sealing problems.

with 84mm it will still be strong enough for 20psi. doesnt golden eagle have a "60PSI" warranty ?

You just have to make sure you spray the copper sealant on both sides of the gasket. My friend forgot put some copper sealant on one and the copper gasket went out in 2 months about 2000 miles later. It was a LS/VTEC motor too.
