Default Cooling problem but have an idea.

Well my motor has been running hot since I switched chassis(DC2 to a EG). I have a 170 stat in it and propped the hood in the back to let air out of the bay. I think the problem might lie in the more cramped compartment. I have a AC comp RLD manifold that required me to move my rad over a bit and my IC piping is still the same as in the integra so it is a cramped engine bay to say the least.

My idea is to cut defuser holes in the front bumper above the IC but inline with the rad to get more air to the coolant. Any other ideas are welcome too. It has a water pump that is about 2 years old, a new cap, stat, and no coolant or oil anywhere it isnt supposed to be. Oh and the strangest part is it only gets hot when the sun is out and it is above 70 degrees outside. at night the car never goes above normal temp

well with the S300 the check engine comes on at 210 and it is coming on. It is only on hot days never at night or when it is cool out

With the new S300 software you can adjust the fan control. Its under "parameters" and then under "protection" at the bottom. Try having your fan come on a little bit sooner then normal and see if that helps out at all.

The fan comes on long before the stat even opens and it shuts off after 60mph. If I am goin over 60 though it doesnt seem to get as hot? Under 60mph 5th gear cruising is where Im having my biggest issue.

Get a shroud, it uses the whole radiator instead of just whats in front of the fan!!!

Ill try a shroud and see if it helps. I think the holes are my best option really. It is super cramped Ill see if I can find a pic

That gives you some idea. The oil on the scatter sheild was a distrib. seal and since the pics I fixed that.

Earl- How did you make your shroud?

i just bought a piece of sheet aluminum bent it to shape and cut out a hole in the middle for the fan... i then used foam molding sealer to put around the edges to "seal it

i got lucky and someone gave me the sheet of aluminum for free so i didnt have much into it, i think some cheap ebay radiators come with the shroud for a cheap price so maybe ask them how much for the shroud of contact t1 for the kit

What kind of fan do you have? seems like it can't keep up. try wiring the fan with a relay and it's own designated power source and see if that helps

The fan seems pretty strong. This might be stupid but has anyone tried that additive from royal purple? From what I read it is supposed to really help and should I try mixing coolant at like 70% water and 30% anti freeze?

I haven't used the RP stuff but Redline's Water Wetter works wonders and has a noticeable difference

I want to get something to keep it cool this week for this coming weekend cause I have a 3 hour drive each way then I can look into a spal after that. Im really leaning toward the hole idea too. the rad sits kinda high in this chassis and the entire top half of the rad is blocked

How about if I can get a hold of a factory fan. I probably know someone with one laying around. would it flow enough air or better yet figure a way to use the factory shroud with my slim fan?

Changed the cap today and added some extra water(after I burped it) and royal purple stuff. Let it idle and it is already idling cooler. goin to take it out in a bit and see what it does with a load on it
