coolant is not sucking back from the reservoir?
Hallo,
i have some small problems with my cooling system.
here is the starting situation:
- radiator filled until top of the neck (where the hose to the reservoir goes from)
- reservoir filled to min.
- bleed the system (i hope i was doing it correct)
- rad. cap is new
when i drive a few days the reservoir get filled until max (not overshooting anymore)
but didn't suck it back when the engine cooles down.
when you open the rad. cap a few days later you can see that the fluid level inside the radiator is lowered (no water in the neck to see anymore)
when i just fill up the water from the reservoir from max. to min. plus a littlebit more new fluid it is filled up as it was in the starting situation.
did anyone know why he is not sucking back some fluid?!?
Thanks

Re: coolant is not sucking back from the reservoir? (komat)
no, its not smoking at all... burn no oil and no water (or even it is so little that it is not noticable in form of smoke)
the amount of fluid is also very less... maybe 50-80ml maximum.
is it possible that the system is not bleeded correctly?
how do you bleed the system? i have it done like the honda service manual sais...
thanks

Its also possible you have a coolant leak, thus air is getting sucked in from the leaking place, rather than the much heavier coolant from the exp. tank.
My car did that with a busted HG.

did you have an idea where it could be?
i could see no wet place around the car or in the engine bay... all hoses are ok... nothing seems strange...
HG is def. ok...

Internal leak, you wont see it. You need to do a coolant system pressure test to see if it holds pressure, or while its running if it builds to much pressure(hence the excess amount in your overflow)
