Considering Switching Turbos & wondering what are the pros and cons... Please advise.
The higher figures in the dyno plot are from my last session at the dyno. Running 16psi with a t3/60-1 .63ar snail I was able to produce 440whp and 320 tq on pump gas with a 84mm GSR block with a pr3 head. Since then I spun my #4 rod bearing (good for me ) Now that the car is undergoing the "bionic man" makeover I am looking into other turbos... Mainly the GT 3071 with an .86ar, what I am wondering is what kind of differences do you think I will see across the dyno. And do others feel that this is a wise choice (please explain.) Thanks in advance for anyone that responds.

i would get the GT35r before the GT30r considering how much displacement you have. The big difference that would happen with the gt30r would be that you would see boost sooner, but i thought they maxed out around the 500whp mark, so you could easily get to max out point.
the GT35r would still spool better than the 60-1 and you would make more power sooner.

The turbo is definately for sale... here is the link

My horsepower goals are not really oriented towards drag racing as much, being that all this is in an ITR with a full suspension I have dreams of roadracing the car a bit so I need a manageable powerband. I too thought of the GT35r and just thought it to be an overkill. Does anyone out there have dyno sheets from one?

But the main question is what it is that you're trying to accomplish.. The GT3071 is a bit smaller than the GT30R. The .86A/R is based upon the T2 flanged exhaust housing, not the T3 ot T4. Tell us what you WANT to accomplish in terms of drivability, response, and power, THEN make a decision.
*EDIT* After seeing your more recent post, for road racing, the GT3071 is much smoother in the powerband, and doesn't require as much boost needed. As long as your compression is a little higher than the typical 9:1, your response will be much nicer.

damn you stole my avatar.
My compression is 9.1. I want a turbo that will yield around the same hp and tq figures with possibly a wider power band. Better spool time, more response transitioning between part throttle to boost. Basically I want a more responsive turbo. I have no need to go much over the power levels I already have because my car lives on pumnp gas.
