those numbers are uniform, all within 10-15% if you are scared, do a cylinder leakage test. but those look good to me.

well what worries me is that i lost about a quart of oil in 2 weeks time. I think it has something to do with my extremely leaky return line though and a possibly leaking crank seal. My friends say that my car never smokes like its burning oil when i get on it and there is no noticable blowby out of the valvecover breather.

a cylinder leakage test will tell you if the rings are goin south.

Alright i'm getting inconsistent results here...

did another test today and got something like
170 170 165 170
then rechecked them again just to be sure and got
190 200 205 205
this compression tester is brand new

- Was the engine all the way warmed up?

- Did you hold the throttle at WOT during the tests?

- How many times did you crank the engine during each test? Until the psi stopped increasing or a set number of times?

You shouldn't have that much of a difference between the two tests that you did. The compression numbers should be consistent. You must have done something different in the two tests that you did.

After 70,000 boosted miles on my D16Y8 my compression numbers in 1-2-3-4 were 185-185-188-187. I still had the same numbers even with a blown headgasket.

yea i don't think blown headgaksets ever show up often in compression tests unless they are really bad.

well i burn oil when i get on it...and in normal driving...but no smoke in normal driving, and the oil still disappears! but when i get on it(with a car behind me with its lights on) you can see smoke....yet my compression is PERFECT 240 all the way accross. so i guess the compression test doesn't say **** (cept my ringlands aren't cracked )
