I also drive a bmw 335i with about 360 tq after tune and that clutch is so easy. Others have gotten away with over 400 ft/lbs on the stock clutch. I wish there was an option for Honda's like that.Originally Posted by Turbo-LS
It gets a little better after break in but a puck clutch is anpuck clutch. Best way to drive one is when starting off tap throttle to bring revs up and let the clutch out quicker than normal this will reduce the chatte in first gear. You will figure it out after a while. If you want to play wih bigger power then you have to make sacrafices. I personally drive a comp stage 5 unsprung and it's like driving a stock clutch to me because I'm used to it

Well with a RWD car it's a bit easier and less chatter than a FWD car but yeah it's all in the driver.
Well I think I have it down now. I'm going to get the dyno done as soon as I get 300 miles on the clutch.

dyno can be done before break in of the clutch. you can make pulls just not supposed to bang gears

i have a compettion stage 5 unsprung and drove it for the first time yesterday. pretty darn harsh

Yeah at first they are just got onget used to driving it. They have a sweet spot you'll figure it out

as long as you don't plan to launch the thing hard off the line all the time there is no need for a ceramic puck type clutch. they are to harsh and will require replacement more frequently.

I'm about to try this clutch out. Good to someone making close to 450whp and it holding. I'm about to downsize my turbo anyways so I won't be making 400tq again anytime soon.
Here is what happened to my competition clutch extream pressure plate on 6 puck sprung clutch. Import Face Off 08' I broke both axles on slicks after my 11.1 pass. Clutch had about 100 miles on it.
Note: All I had was a vibration I could feel in the shifter bad and the car felt like it had a busted motor mount or something.
I can't tell you all how glad I am to of found the problem. Nothing worse then a vibration you can't find...

^ I've ran both ACT and competition pucked cluthes. This is so true! My ACT however never blew up but then again you never know in a racing application.Originally Posted by non-VTEC

^^i hope you don't plan to launch on the stage 3 clutch like that....i don't think any clutch will hold up to hard launching....the guys running low ET's and high power usually have spare parts (clutches and drive shafts) ready for replacement.
order up the CM stage 3 with the heavy duty pressure plate....as long as your not making over 350ft/lbs it will hold your power.....

I don't plan on drag racing anymore. My lessons learned over the years are that it's to expensive and time consuming to have a daily driver with ac/ps and clean paint job that races competitively. I'll end up getting a hatch that lives on a trailer and swapping my built motor in the teg if I get back into it.
For now I just want a reliable daily driver for work that has a clutch that a girl could drive if need be.
Any idea how much more power the extream PP upgrade will net you with the kevlar full face disc?

it wasn't much more at all....maybe 50 bucks....you can email or call and ask.
fyi....i personally know someone who abused the hell out of the CM stage 3 clutch for many many years and ran crazy HP thru it (over 600whp) and it was still fine when he pulled it out. yes...i said 600whp.
feel free to contact tony @DMT and im sure he will tell you the same:

I just talked to CC and they said that they are discontinuing the Kevlar clutch.... I still know dealers that have them but sucks I won't be able to get another disc down the road. May need to stock up and get an extra disc while I can.
They mentioned the $100 extream PP upgrade would net another 40-50lbs of tq. I don't know if I want to run another one. It was stiff like a dump truck and it broke (though I was abusing it). Kind of defeats the purpose of going with a stock like disc if the pedal is still really stiff.

the pedal pressure/feel of the HD plate is hardly noticeable. it wont cramp your leg at all. i got mine from clutchmasters (i think they are the same as CC anyway) so you may be able to get the kevlar disc from them.
