cometic HP gasket + GE Step Deck
well this is sorta too late for me..... but has anyone run the cometic HP gasket with a GE step-decked block? so far i have heard the following
1. it will leak (larry at endyn)
2. it will NOT leak (scott at cometic)
3. it might leak (ted at GE)
the deck is stepped .002-.003. the gasket has a .006 thicker fire ring. i really shoulda gone with a stock head gasket, but the motor is back together, the head is torqued, the *$(#*$)(# supercharger is back on.............. so i'm just going to have to pray that it doesn't leak. if it does, i have another weekend project i guess.
any thoughts on this?

On a block at my shop we decided to use a stock headgasket in the same sitaution after talking with cometic and when I lined it up on the guys block it didn't fit nearly as well as a stock gasket did....no one was sure about GE O-ring and since we had head stories of success and failure. The stock one looked great compared to Cometic, I mean all the water jacket holes lined up better. But I do know Cometic does sell a good product and have used them before so who knows? I think the main concern is where the GE O-ring is, 86mm usually. But then the Cometic Embossman on the gasket or (THE LIP) depending on what size bore might be touching this spot as well and might cause sealing problems
