I had a copper HG on my old non-boosted Ls/Vtec setup and it worked without problem. I just coated it nice and thick with copper spray. If you are boosting I would stay with a stock gasket.

The copper head gasket is ment for an o-ringed block. Stock head gasket is good for low boost but the cometic hp gasket is best for a daily driven, open deck block

Actually you cant use a copper hg with copper o-ringed block. Why couldnt I use a Cometic on a closed deck block?

Do you know what your talking about?

Sorry. To answer the original question. You may need to have your head milled or the block decked. One of the 2 may be warped. Also, what studs are you using? Hopefully not stock.

you have to use steel o-ring with copper headgasket. it wont seal with out it.

cometic hg will work fine on a closed deck block.

Permatex makes "hylomar" - either spray on or tube, it is blue and remains tacky and is anaerobic.if it doesnt seal you chose the wrong one for your application or everything is warped. Look at SCE copper gaskets - they have oringed (kinda like fire ring) and non oringed. they are great gaskets and sometimes reusable.

stock headgaskets are good for as much power as you wanna throw at it....lots of teams use OEM's on their race cars even

I tried for a year and a half to get copper head gaskets to work....they don't. I tried receiver grooves, o-rings, hylomar, silicone, copper coat.......you name it, I tried it. Bottom line......copper deforms, but cannot spring back as your aluminum head and block "move" around under large amounts of power. Get a MLS (multiple layer steel) gasket (stock or Cometic, etc.) and be done with it.

Later,
