Default code 5 with boost >>

every once and a while i get a code 5 cel.
MAP Sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure)
mechanical problem / disconnected piping.

piping to map is hooked up correct and not leaking. does this mean my map is bad.

how does the ecu determine that it's a mechanical problem. from a invallid reading or somthing..??

platinum.

The map sensor puts out a voltage. You are usually able to boost around 10-11 pounds on a stock map sensor without it throwing a code. You could try using check valves inline with your map sensor.

you need a missing link or check valves

wierd to get that code at only 7psi... maybe a bad map sensor ... those things are so finicky.

see if its a loose connector or something. the only code ive been getting is 13... damn obd2

because honda map sensors are not supposed to read boost. unless you have a 3 bar map sensor, you need check valves or missing link.

sorry i dont think thats it. i run 8psi daily with the afc hack and the only code i get is 13 which is the barometric sensor.

i dont get the code 5 he is getting.

lastly with the afc hack the map sensor never goes over 5 volts (so the ecu doesnt see boost) because we are trimming the map signal/fuel. its not until somwhere over 11psi does the afc hack not able to trim the map signal enough and the ecu reads boost.

you need a missing link or check valves in line with the map sensor. That would take care of the problem

the honda map actually does read boost just fine to ~10.65psi it's the ecu that does not like it, there are no boost fuel maps.

im taking care of that with the vafc hack thus eliminating the need for check valves and mising links.

that's for the help guys. any other idea's

Are check valves and/or missing link still required if using Hondata or AEM EMS with stock MAP sensor?
