Default Closed Loop Oil Catch

Hey guys,

I decided to go with a closed loop oil catvh setup. Just not sure of an idea or 2 and need your help.

SETUP
All OEM PCV setup is oem. The only exception is that i gutted the PCV, which I plan to connect to the oilf catch. From the oil catch out, i will have a PCV in line which will connect to the intake manifold.

So is this setup correct or should i have left the un modded PCV at the block then route to oil catch then intake mani as usual?

Instead of running the line back to the intake manifold, you will want to run the line from the catch can to the intake side of the turbo. That way there will be vacumm to pull all the extra pressure out of the crankcase.

Okay that would make more sense. Thanks. A check valve needed?

Doing this will also suck oil straight through his compressor wheel and intake if the can isn't baffled well and regulated. You could do an exhaust downdraft, but that'd require some exhaust welding and more than simply fitting a line to it. Or you could ventilate to atmosphere and make it easy.

If it is to the inlet before the compressor (having an intake runner attacked to the turbo and ran to a filter), it'll always be vacuum or atmospheric pressure, but then it hits the turbo.

Thanks man. I experienced an "open breather" in my audi and not a fan of the mess and smell lol. The "baffled" black box and a secondary baffled oil catch can will be used in this setup. How would you further regulate it?

Trying to use check valves to seperate vacuum and boost is tricky and they need to be precise. Check the FAQ. There is a good write up there on catch cans.
