Default Rod bearing clearence

Hi, Rebuilding my LS/VTEC turbo, and I'm having a hard time with the rod bearings. I tried ACL race STD and King STD and the clearances are way off.

ACL's Race STD

I'm getting .001 on the green plastigage.

The HX's are a wee bit thinner, to give more clearance. Honda has red, green, blue, blah blah all those different colors. ACL has H, and HX.

...Why are you still trying with standard sized bearings?

I don't have the equipment or the knowledge to select the OEM ones.

I've reading threads how to but, I'm a little confused.

You need inside and outside mics to get the right bearings

Assuming the crank and journals haven't been fucked with, the crank and block will both have stamps on them. Use that, in combination with a table in the FSM, and it'll tell you exactly what color OEM bearings you need.

even after that you can probably go a color or so looser. I use the hx's for my rods they as hatchy said they usually get between .0018 and .002. ive found they measure right about between oem pink and red.

Have you checked the crank shaft rod journals to make sure it is in OEM spec?

So, After a week waiting for the 3 days express delivery I get my bearings.

ACL HX STD. and about .0017 - .0018 all of them. A shy little than .0015 and a little bigger then .0020
