Civic turbo problem
Hi i have an 99 civic turbo that recently "cuts out" when it starts to boost in full thottle when it hits around 10psi, datalogging shows that when this happens the computer restarts (probably ground connection somwhere) and now i changed the battery and connectors, checked ground connections and added some new wires from engine to body and from battery to engine, took out the ecu and checked plug and inside computer,
First run after i did all this was very good ! then i slowed down and gave it a second run but it started happening again !, and now i am hoping someone here can point me to something than my eyes have missed :S
Sorry if there are spelling errors in there im from iceland
Car specs:
B16A2
CP 9.0.1 81mm
Manley rods
Acl hx bearings
Eagle crank stock stroke
Brian crower stage 2 turbo cams + springs and retainers
Orbit oil pump
OBX manifolds
Front bumper exhaust 2.75"
Holset HX40 turbo w 14m2 exhaust housing, boosting 22psi
MSD 6AL w. External coil
Megasquirt ecu
Boost by gear
Manual FPR
FMIC with custom 2.5" pipeing
Zetronix wideband
xspower 38mm wastegte

Re: Civic turbo problem
The map sensor ? its inside the ecu, not stock, i think this is a damaged wire somewhere because all the sudden sh** starting to build up on the battery, every wire i check looks okay tough.. just one day i it started acting like this, the car had been working fine for some time

Re: Civic turbo problem
I dont think that the ECU should restart if there is a map sensor problem? the dataloging showd that there was some voltage problems right when this happens but i cant find anything wrong there :/
but here are two pics of the vacum line
TB
I know rusty, need sandblast and paint

Re: Civic turbo problem
yes he's running Megasquirt, based on the case it looks like an MS2, could be an extra but you can't tell that by the case
Has the weather suddenly changed, like gotten really cold? You should have IAT and o2 sensor correction enabled in the MS options so the ecu can adjust fueling based on o2 feedback (since the colder weather will cause it to run leaner) and the low IATs would also enable adding or pulling fuel from the overall map (it should be adding fuel in colder weather)
Also, barometric pressure can cause some issues and seeing how MS doesn't have baro correction unless you add a second map sensor that could be causing some issues as well, especially with a weather change and any drastic changes in elevation while driving

Re: Civic turbo problem
The guy in the shop in the side of us, sell and install Megasquirt and they have the Map sensor integrated inside the ECU, when the case is closed you only see the pin for the hose.
