Default Charge pipe pro's, share some love

Hey guys, I have never quite understood charge pipe sizing theory, maybe you can help.

Right now i'm running full 2" charge piping with a saab T3. Whats the advantage to running bigger charge pipes? when would i need to, and where would i see improvement? spool time, overall power, or what?

I guess I just dont get it. I am not really familiar with air flow theory, but no matter what your turbo still puts out the same amount of air right, and as long as your charge pipes seal perfect, it all gets into the IM right? so does bigger charge pipe just decrease resistance to air flow, thus improving power? or improving spool time?

help!

Bigger charge pipe would hurt spool time if anything. It takes more time to pressurize the additional volume of the larger charge pipe. You should be fine with the 2" pipe on your setup.

how detrimental is having a bottleneck in a charge pipe setup, like a section of 1.5", cause actually now that i think about it my BOV pipe is really small. what kind of gains would i see from putting it on a bigger pipe?

So the actual charge pipe is 1.5" where the BOV is mounted? I would at least get that to 2".

go 2.5" or 2" pipings and get over it. -=P Lots tend to have it work nicely, with good results. So why not?

But with your simple setup, stick with 2"..
