I run 2" charge pipes on my D16 with t25. I see full spool near 2800 rpm. She pulls hard to 5500 rpm, after that the power drops off to redline. I am not sure why, could be turbo charge heating, or flow retrictions.

Anyway, 2" is fine for most 1.8l and lower apps.

the smaller the ci volume of the total charge pipe, the less lag. A charge pipe that is 6 feet long, with a 2" diameter, will create the same amount of lag as a 3' pipe, with a 4" diameter.

Longer is always worse, but a larger diameter can increase power on high flow turbo's

You are right in that smaller pipe will have less volume and less lag, but a 6' 2"dia pipe will not have the same amount of lag as a 3' 4"dia. pipe. It doesn't work that way. Diameter has a bigger effect on volume than length does.
