changing boost setting and tuning

changing boost setting and tuning
Ive always wondered how can you guys with turbo setup change the boost setup if your car is tuned with aem ems, hondata etc... For example if you tune your car at wide open throttle for 20psi of boost and then you switch to 10psi for daily driving, isnt the car going to run the setup you setted for 10psi, meaning ultra rich?
Or the hondata, aem, haltech etc.. simply adjust the fuel, timing level with your tuned a/f adjustement and re-ajust it when you run 10psi...meaning your car will always be fully tuned even at 10psi
thanks

Re: changing boost setting and tuning (racerxadam)
thanks,
that means that if I tune the car for 18psi, it will be at the ideal setting also at 10psi, that way you dont always have to go back to dyno.
if you tune under WOT, is the hondata system is going to adjust also under medium throttle, or low?

The way I understand it you can tune the car for part throttle as well. A good tuner will make sure your car is running perfectly before you leave the facilities.

Re: changing boost setting and tuning (514_type R)
every position on the fuel and timing maps represents an rpm and a pressure or load value. for every rpm value on the map there are corresponding pressure values across the whole map. In order to run a lower pressure and have a good tune you need to tune for that part of the map, and then add pressure and tune for that part of the map and so forth. The logical thing to do IMO is to start with a conservative map and tune low boost first and then start adding boost and tuning the new parts of the map that are being used. Then when you turn the boost down you just don't end up using the high boost parts of the map
