Default CEL: Code 90 Evap canister leak? - Newly boosted

Hello all,

I recently installed a Drag kit on my 1998 Accord.

After the install I started getting a CEL. Read the code: code 90. My manual lists this as evap canister leak.

I have looked under the hood and the canister appears OK (it's cold up here in MA so it wasn't a very long look), replaced the vacuum line to the canister to see if that was the problem, no luck - still getting the CEL even after resetting the ECU. Doesn't happen right away after the code is cleared, it almost seems like it starts after getting into full boost a few times.

Any ideas what to check next?

According to my manual the code 90 can indicate a leak near the fuel tank, or a leak under the hood, but I need the ECU scan tool to get that info.

I'm thinking that maybe the additional vacuum pressure blew a small hole in the canister somewhere?

Thanks in advance!

**** it, its just emissions bullshit anyway. But I imagine it is possible to pop a seal in it due to boost because it is tied into the intake mani.

not sure how the evap "circuit" works off hand, but based on your info, a check valve comes to mind - would that work?

I'd love to say "**** it" but I want the CEL to go AWAY.

When I first saw the light I was like "OH NO" but once I checked the code I felt much better.

A check valve - interesting thought I think I may have to try that! Thanks!

Anyone else?

well this is kind of unrelated, but I have had code 90 since I did my auto to manual swap. I tried replacing the canister with no luck. The factory manual has some detailed troubleshooting involving checking voltages and vaccuum that I have not got around to doing yet, you might want to check that out.
