Default CEL Code 3 MAP Sensor. Jackson Racing

The other day i was driving home and my CEL came on in first gear @ around 6 psi. I got home, checked the code, and saw it was the MAP sensor. Started the car again and it turned off. Then on my way back out again it flashed on for about 5 seconds and turned off again @ around probably 3 psi.

What is going on? SHould i be worried? It drives normal still.

JRSC on a Stock OBD1 GSR tuned with Hondata yesterday.

Thanks alot

Yeah, so....

Drove down to school. Halfway through the trip the car started running like ****. The CEL came on and again it was CEL 3. I just kept it out of boost and made it to where i needed to go. I opened the MAP sensor up and there looked to be Oil in the plug of the sensor. ( probably from the SC install) I tried to clean it out and plugged it all back up and drove it around that night and it ran fine.

This morning, I was driving around and then the CEL came on again and it ran like **** once more. I then took it to a tire shop and tried to blow the oil out with compressed air but the same thing is happeneing.

Im pretty sure this is my prob...

Anyway to clean map sensors???? Should i get a OEM replacement or something aftermarket.

You're throwing a code because the MAP sensor is reading pressure. On an N/A car, the MAP will only read vacuum. When you cross into boost (pressure), the MAP sensor is thinking "WHAT THE ****!?!?!?! Something is wrong" and then goes into limp mode. This is why the CEL isn't on when you turn the car off and then start it again.

Easiest way to solve this problem is a check valve/missing link. It allows vacuum to the MAP but closes when you cross into boost

yup, car ran fine on the dyno, and for a few days after.

Then one night this happened, but the next morning it drove normal again.

Three days later, it started back up and now it wont go back to normal

I think im good. It ran very well for the few days it was running, and i want my engine to last @ 8 psi.

Plus i didnt invest in hondata/RC injectors/ fuel pump for nothing.

So more updates on me troubleshooting but still no solution.

I got a female connector from a junkyard and soldered it in (the plug that the map sensor plugs into) and tried to start it up. Still the same problem.

I then started just checking random things that i had to cut and solder and when i tugged on these wires they came out of the plug...

I pushed them back in and the car still idled like ****.

CLIFF NOTES

SO far i have tried a new MAP sensor and sensor plug, and i am still running redicluously rich and idling like crap....

Somebody has got to have some kinda advice for me. What should i check next??? THanks
