Default catchcan question...

hey guys I searched, but could not find the exact info that i needed. Let me start by saying that I am not a really big fan of catchcans. I have a built h22 that is going to be making about 500whp @ 20psi @ 7500rpm... Is there a real NEED for a catch can setup on this motor? On the stock h22, it has been doing 366whp at 11psi, all it has is a breather, and a 1g DSM pcv valve which has been working just fine. If the built motor does need a catch can setup, where would you say the boost\power requirement starts?

what kind of breather are you using? one that comes of the valve cover or a modded valve cover with weld fittings?

I dont really think there is a boost/power requirement for a catch can but why arent you a fan of them. All they do if relieve pressure in your motor especially at 20 psi with 500whp your running a big chance for there being a lot of oil blow by. And a lot of unwanted pressure inside your motor. I have a 450whp civic at 20psi and I have one and I havent had any problems. just my 2cents but i'de deff look into one especially considering your probually spent thousands on build your motor like i did why not save it by spending a couple hundred.on a catch can Now by no means is it mandiatory there are a lot of ppl on here i'm sure making decent power not running on but I guarantee you most people on here making over 400 have them.

It is not a funding issue, it is simply a distaste of adding anything that isn't necessary, alot of hoses and the can itself. I would rather not if it is not necessary, but will in a heartbeat if it is.

This is by far the best thread for information you will ever need and if you do decide on getting a catch can get one of Tony1 or similar cans they are by far the best

As far as it being necessary In my eyes yes it's very necessary. And i'm sure that link will probually explane and agree. And T1 is probually the best. Unfortunelly I got the endyne catch can insted but it works great on my car. And theres not a lot of hoses. Some people have had problems with the endyne overflowing but I have not.

I have one on my dc2 and i make 450hp at 19psi. I have fittings welded to my valve cover that runs to a catchcan. this is a pic of my old setup. http://videos.streetfire.net/photo/1035045.htm
