Catch Can Install

Can't really see what's going on, but unless the line going from the can to the IM has some sort of check valve, it's not hooked up correctly. You might also want to hollow out your PCV valve if you haven't already for better flow.

Re: (bubs)
NO YOU DO NOT HAVE IT RIGHT.
basically right now, your sucking out of the valvecover and into your intake manifold. You have just duplicated the factory setup almost.
Man, read up on this some more or IM me for more details on how to do it right. It will be some work though.
P.S. Holy vacuum tee's batman!!!

Thats what I thought I saw and also; isnt your catch can supposed to sit vertical not horizontal? (thats just how it looks in the picture

Re: Catch Can Install (NuclearB18B)
dont think so because the intake manifold is creating the vacuum but its still sucking it back into it from the looks of it. arent you supposed to run one line from the intake manifold to the catchcan and another from the valve cover to the catch can? By doing that you create a vacuum to suck the oil or whatever into the catch can and not back into your intake manifold. well thats just how i see it

Re: Catch Can Install (boostedej1)
No, it's not hooked up correctly. Is that PCV hollowed out? If not, there's no vacuum to open it. Right now you have the valve cover breather, and your PCV going to a vented catch can. No matter what, you should not run the valve cover line and pcv hose to the same catch can. If you have those 14mm hex plugs in the back of your block, you can do an Endyn type setup. Otherwise, just remove the pcv, and put the largest size brass fitting you can fit in its place. From there, it should go directly to the catch can with no T, and an open breather on the catch can. Either get a second catch can, or put a breather filter on the valve cover breather separate from the other catch can.

If you want to use the PCV valve, then you need the manifold vacuum source. Otherwise, cap it. You don't need a vacuum source if you remove the PCV and use the block fittings in the picture.
According to Z10, both block fittings aren't needed, but most people use 2. If you choose to use just one, use the passenger side. You could also drill and tap the top of your catch can and screw in a barbed fitting for a breather filter so you can run 2 lines. Since I'm not familiar with LS engines, I can't comment on how to plug the stock PCV.

Re: (maurob18a1)
Which way? From the PCV to the catch can to the intake manifold? This is fine, except the PCV closes under boost. However, many people do this anyway. His other suggestion ("If your motor didn't have an original PCV system, then run one line from the nipple you installed on the back of the block to the catchcan and then run a vacuum line from the catchcan to the intake manifold."), doesn't sound like a good idea. I've read that steel wool isn't a good idea, either.
Look up posts made by "dasher" to learn about catch can setups. There are several different ways of hooking them up.
