your cars not tuned! and did u disable the speed check in the Engine management system u r using? if u didnt u wont get VTEC.
stop beat n on ur car and get it tuned before it goes kaboooom

theres your problem right there!
Vtec needs 3 things in order to work properly
1. Oil Pressure
2. RPM's
3. Speed

Or you could just buy an OBD1 ecu and tune in on Crome....that wouldnt cost any more than a VAFC. If its untuned, the crossover could be very rich. Also the problems with the speed sensor could be causing it. Be sure to check your oil as well...dont overlook the easy things

I have Neptune and a INOVATIVE wideband sensor but am running a chipped p28 right now. I mean like how much TUNING do you need to do for a non boosted car you should just right with the proper fuel at 10%-80% throttle correct which can be done with a VAFC and a wideband

Vafc doesnt allow for fuel trims to be adjusted like they do with a EMS. it just goes by percent. and you cant adjust anything since you have Neptune and only your dealer can touch it.
So i would get some burnable chips or get ostrich and switch it up to crome.

Re: (panda_eh2)
I am having this same issue with my boosted B18c1. ~4200 RPM the car just starts popping and backfiring and acting as though it's hitting the rev limiter and it just doesnt want to go anywhere. i've ruled out everything it could be and i'm convinced it just needs a re-tune (considering i just finished the turbo setup and haven't gotten it tuned yet, i've yet to crack Vtec so far)
and i also have a question on this^..... how safe is it to drive the car (untuned) when it is having this issue, if i don't rev past ~4000 RPM and keep it in vacuum or low boost? i'm assuming that not too much harm can be done without significantly beating on the motor... i've driven the car untuned like this for ~1000 miles and there isn't any smoke or odd sounds of any sort..... and i can tell that the car wants to get up and go but i'm not beating on it until i get it tuned.

If you absolutely have to drive it, stay off the throttle!!! Check out H-T member, 93turbo16. He has a link from his H-T page to his homepage. He's tuned tons of cars with wideband's and dyno runs. When we were street tuning my car with his wideband it was doing the same thing, breaking up as soon as boost was applied. After about an hour of driving around, John was able to get it dialed in as much as possible considering we weren't on a dyno.
