When I get on it, usually when I have full boost, the tachometer goes crazy, jumping from like 2 to 7 to 5 and all over the place. the engine doesn't always move with the RPMs however. I'm stumped, the clutch is fine, it still grabs like a bitch, I've only had the engine with the turbo and clutch for month or two. I realized something was wrong when I was getting pushed by a b16'd civic. that's when I looked down and saw the mess.

97 ls motor w/ gsr tranny
drag turbo, @ 5psi
ACT extreme clutch

thats about it, I was thinking it could be the map bypass, so as soon as the car cools down, I'm gonna go check it. but wouldn't I just get a fuel cut?

check your connection on the ignitor, if they are loose it will cause the tach to jump eraticly as you described.

 

i hate to sound like an idiot, but where can I find the ignitor?

 

also, would a bad ignitor cause a power loss?

Ignitor is inside the distributor. Wires are connected on the outside white connector and inside with 4 clips. A loose wire will throw a code. May want to consider replacing the ignitior just in case.

Yes, a bad ignitor will cause small misses and low arc voltage and the engine will be slower.
