hey guy i am new here. i have a 1.6el running a gt28r turbo.

wondering if you could help me on this. yesterday i was driving the car just fine boost was were it always was 15psi.. today i can only make 7psi. so i tried to figure out why. here is what i did so far

1) checked for intercooler piping leaks-none were found(used a leak tester)
2)took aprt the avcr solenoid, cleaned it, and connected it straight to the battery and it clicks so i think thats fine.
3) checked for power to solenoid-i have power to it.
4)tested the wastegate(put compressed air to it) and it held so thats good.
5)left the hose from the avcr to the wastegate unplugged and it made 20psi easily.

any other ideas? im guessing it has to be something with the avcr, but not sure what.

 

Could your BOV be sticking open, or slightly open?

 

Sounds like an issue with the AVCR. If you are taking the AVCR out of the equation by bypassing it then that has to be the issue. It might not be the solenoid itself but the actual controller.

 

thats what i was thinking. is there a way of testing the unit?
