Can you use the AEM EMS as a turbo timer? Boost controller?
I have heard there are a ton of options with this thing. I haven't installed mine yet, so I haven't had a chance to play around with it yet. Is there a way it could be set to keep the engine running if the oil temp or water temp was above x degrees? If it is possible, anyone know how to do it? One less box to find a place to mount would be nice.
I know it has an option to be used as a boost controller, but how does it compare to a unit like the blitz sbc or apexi avcr. I think the latter would be better simply because they could be adjusted without the use of your laptop. Any comments on this?
Thanks,

I have an AVCR and it is a pain to mess with. I spoke to JP at AEM last week and advised me to allow the ecu control boost. He said it has more options than any boost controller, such as boost by rpm, boost by SPEED (I like that one), traction control and so on. All you need is a boost solenoid off a GMC Typhoon. The part number is #1997152. It cost only 20.00 bucks. Then you have to get a plug and install it. I have yet to get a plug although NAPA most likely will have it or I will call JP.

What kind of plug do you need? the plug that goes into the EMS?
a similar issue came up in an older thread where the dude couldn't figure out how to wire it up...have you figured this out?

That typhoon solenoid is $8 at http://www.gmpartsdirect.com. Save your $12.

That's ok, I've had it since wed. I get a shop discount so it cost me 14 dollars and change.
As for the plug, no it's not any plug or pin output for the AEM. It's a plug, like the kind you need for a GM three bar map sensor that's under the hood.

Now this boost control and traction control are only for the Race version, am I correct because Im not 100% sure. I didnt know the PNP had that option.

PNP can do everythign a race version. It has every pinout just go to the aempower.com look in the forum and check otu the ecu pinout for your model 30-1000 or 30-1010
You can do it with the PNP version. The boards are the same, just different pinouts.
blast you, blast you all to hell... i cant make up my mind.... hondata.or aem..
i feel the hondata will be better for a daily driver..BUT and this is a big but...i can make some good money on my hondata and get the aem....and in turn it will save me more money(ebc, tt etc)

Well I already have a boost controller, but no traction controll. I can always buy a seperate traction control but I would be spending alot more money.

I believe it will be hooking the gm solenoid up to "PW1" pinout and then changing these variables in this system:
