can I run over 6psi on a d16z6 without lowering compression?
someone told me I would have to lower the compression on my motor to run over 6psi. its a 94 d16z6. I would obviously be using some kind of fuel management like hondata or zdyne. also, anyone using chrysler turbos? 88 lebaron turbo?
just trying to gather info before I start my project. thanks.

you should be able to boost at least 8psi daily on the stock stuff and still be reliable.

No Geeser, he's just stupid since his whole car runs off 1 cylinder and a champion spark plug.

I ran 15psi on my stock d16z6 without a problem. I was running 12psi on pump gas daily..without problems. 6-9psi is fine as long as its tuned correctly.

Jesues christ, you guys are really running that much on stock z6 bottom ends? Man you really got some big *****. Anything over 12psi will be pushing you near the 215hp mark, which is the threshold of just about any D-series rod.
I am currently running a homemade turbo setup on my friends z6 hatch, with no engine managment what so ever... at 6psi intercooled it has been doing great for over 6 months. Only 92oct gas and the ignition timing is backed down a few degrees. The air/fuel meter shows its running pretty damn good under boost too. No lean conditionds, and no signs of detonation. Personaly if this was on my car I would at least add a rising rate regualtor and a MSD BTM unit.... but this project is just a test to see how well stock tuning can be done with a FI setup.

and how are u running 6psi of boost without *any* fuel increase? The stock ecu will give u a map error at like 2 or 3psi over sea level. And if u use a check valve and run 6psi and nothing else you will run super lean and detinate.
I dont see how thats possible.

thanks for the input, still haven't heard any thoughts on the chrysler turbo yet. just wondering why I haven't seen anyone running them. how many people have turbos and a/c still? thanks.

jus for the record ive seen a close friend of mines civic ex 95 body running 10 psi for a year straight with just a fuel pump. this is ofcoarse with the newt sized td04 but still 10 psi on a stock block. the only problem he ever had was that someone wanted the car more than he did and stole it from him. but its all kool now turbo 240 always works for me
