Can I run 10 lbs. of boost with this SOHC setup?
d16y8
eagle rods
JE pistons (not sure on compression)
blockguard
V-AFC w/missing link, 12:1 FMU, DSM 450's, walbro 255lph, whatever else I need
ACT HDSS clutch w/ fidanza or CM flywheel
HKS Hiper 2.5" cat-back exhaust
What I'm wondering is can the V-AFC handle this kind of setup?

I see you said "ran", as in the past tense. Did it blow up?

Only after 6 miles of redline pegging at 145mph...
But besides that, it was fine. I blew it because I felt like being an *******. Other than that, you'll be fine, the V-AFC can do that.

you'll be fine, ditch the FMU and you dont really need the fuel pump either. oh yea and you dont need a missing link with the afc setup at 10psi.
I run 10psi all the time on my stock Y8 with just V-AFC and 450's. stock fuel pump and it works great.

I'm running 8-10lbs of boost daily on completely stock Y8 internals. I'm running DSM 450s and an AFC.

Man you should be looking at 10 psi + with your set up.
Like the guy's said ditch the fmu and missing link, you won't need it running the afc hack. Sell that and spend the money on a boost controler. A boost controler on a sohc is a must to increase the spool up and and increase the wham bam when the turbo kicks in.
over 11psi you will have to swap the map sensor with a gm 3bar, and a fuel pump (which you have, unless its an inline) would be recommended. I would say try for 14psi.
Best of luck and let us know how it turns out, sounds like you got potential for a sick soch setup bud.

If you can supply your a/f ratios, egts, and timing under boost, I can intelligently answer your question.
At least a/f's and base timing would help.
Thanks and good luck

Get Hondata don't **** around with shitty hacks and other such crap you obviously are trying to get a decent setup there, get hondata first you can boost 10psi easily I wouldn't do it everyday though... Then get the aftermarket rod's and pistons and run some real boost through it..

I would say **** the afc hack and save up for a hondata. I fully built my d16 and all I have to show for it is 10psi.....cant go much higher without some other type of management....10psi is fun but it is not what I was expecting. 15-20psi, now that sounds fun. My motor is ready for it, just need to save up for the hondata....
