Can I remove the wastegate??
I broke a bolt on my manifold that connects the wg and now I need to drive the car without the wg to get it fixed. The question is will the car be ok to run without boost generated. I'm concerned about a/f ratio's and I do not have a gauge to tell me everything is ok. Thanks! HT

sure u can take it off and drive around. as long as u dont have a problem with burning hot exhuast gas filling up your engine bay

A bolt rattled off of my WG and I drove home with it hanging on with one bolt, its just real loud and annoying. Just dont floor it and you'll be fine.

i had this problem several times.. make sure to use grade 10 bolt and if that doesn't help, then its likely to break again because it must be hitting against something when engine moves.. as for driving, your car can overheat... a/f won't matter because you're not gonna be driving wot..
if you can't fix it yourself via screw extractor kit.. try securing with just one bolt.. then tie something to wastegate so if it comes loose it won't fall through.

I thought grade 8 was stronger than grade 10??? The pink ones are 8, thats what I always use.
