Bulletproof LS motor?
Sleeved, eagle rods, je pistons... is that enough to make a motor handle 20psi? or does the head have to be built to? i'm trying to figure out if i should stay sohc turbo or ls turbo. right now i make about $1,000 spendable a month and i want to know if a 13second car is in my grasps.

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (SLPR)
I am in the process of building a "bullet proof" ls... It has been quite costly for me but I also did a bit more than just resleeving and pistons and rods... I think it will be worth it... If you are only trying to run 13's than a LS motor and a turbo will suite you just fine.

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (2K_TEG)
DAMN, 2K TEG: That is the exact same setup as I am going with plus a Z10 Block Girdle. I want to build my head too, but not sure whats good. How do you like the Portflow components? whats your redline gonna be? what size turbo you puttin on that bad boy? last question, when you gonna get it all put together? im interested to know how it is considering im going with the exact same bottom end (even Endyne pistons) and wanna know what you think your gonna run. Thanks!

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (sushibug)
since you're in San Diego, i would recommend contacting AEBS. they could fabricate you a nice turbo system and bulletproof your bottom end with their own blocks, and of course other bottom end upgrades: pistons, rods, etc. and they now fabricate their own billet cranks.
but, on the downside, you will be lighter in the wallet for at least several months.
there is a prelude there with a custom turbo system. all the piping are 3.00" stainless steel: i/c piping, downpipe and stainless turbo manifold. custom intake manifold as well.

I am going to start out with the standard t3.t4oe and see how that works, I may step up to a 60-1, but I doubt it, I am looking for a quick spooling turbo. About completion date...uh...I am not really sure, I would love to get it done tomorrow, but as you know this is expensive! I am just going to keep buying parts when they are on special and oneday, hopefully soon, I will have it all built up. Anyone wanna do a GE GB? You have to have already done one to get the discounted prices again. The headwork is going to have to be all at once, about $1500. Other than that I can get these things as I go and hopefully then not notice the $6K price tag.
I am hoping for upper 300 whp. Then once I get that, I will have to find a way to get all that power to the ground. I am not too good at predicting drag times, cause I am not too good at drag racing, yet, but I think low 12s for sure, high 11s maybe. Good luck, let me know how yours goes.

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (2K_TEG)
i actually went to AEBS. its not what i expected out of a racer shop, seems like its not open to the public or something. they probably do a good job but they seem a little pricey. $1200+ for a tuned and installed hondata stage2b.

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (2K_TEG)
Ive purchased sll of these things listed but chose Endyn to do the headwork as well. Unfortunately they dont do LS heads but they made and exception for me. I plan on making well over 400whp with my setup, well thats the goal anyway... I used Crower valvetrain and cams (No flames please, Ive read the horror stories already)So far I've spent 4000 on just the motor and such.... Im assembling it sometime next week and shooting to have it running my late May.

$1200? is that the price of the unit with tuning and install?

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (boostedeg6)
yeah... that is for an obdi computer too. i forget if that price included injectors or not but i dont think so. he said four hours mandatory tuning at a rate of $150 a hour i think. also the price changed happened the day before and he wasnt aware of that.

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (sushibug)
IMHO you throw a vtec head, gsr oil pump, new pistons & rods, hondata and injectors and youre in the 12s baby! The vtec head is not necessary but hey an extra 50 flywheel hp sho is nice!

Re: Bulletproof LS motor? (DIRep972)
the people i know around here are all into jdm this, spoon that, all-motor this. they admit that i will be faster then them with my setup, and my setup will costs half that of theirs... but they believe in the prestige... fine by me, i'll take a fatter wallet and a faster car.

I think u can hit 12's without any of that stuff... Stock block LS turbo on 10psi will do 12's.. just as newsense, he did it on 9

With the setup that I mentioned you're bound to hit 12s in no time, with an average driver and have a rebuilt fresh motor to build on. Sounds more reasonable to me!
and sushibug said bulletproof and 20psi and all that..with a stock LS motor your neither.

you want to go fast? screw al that spoon jdm crapm, put a t-u-r-b-o.
i wouldnt even put those parts in my car if they were given to me. no joke.
my car is stock interior and exterior. Ill be the first to admit, with an integra youre never going to get prestige. With speed, youll get the respect!.....*sounds like the fast and the furious *......
