Default Built bottom B18b with a good turbo for 400HP-450HP?????? HELP

My friend has a 98 teg LS, stock motor which has 77k miles but wants to get his lower end done to handle boost. He doesn't know alot about turbo sixes etc. and asked me for help on H-T. He has all the basic bolt-ons right now and is getting the JG Intake manifold to match his 70MM TB next week. He has all the $ to get the work done but just wanted everyones opinions about sleeving or not and what the best way to setup his bottom end. He is wanting to get 400HP if he can. He will be running uberdata for management. I told him to go with a Precision Sc61 with .63 A/R but he wanted to know what else is out there that H-T'ers have had good luck with. Please list what would be the best way to set everything up for this amount of HP. He would like to get it ordered pretty quick.

A list of turbos with specs for this setup to choose

best internals for lower end? and if to sleeve it and what headgasket etc....

And best size Injectors for this power

Thanks in advance and I searched "precision turbo b18b" but will read up some more for this amount of HP what is needed.

SC61, GT35E, GT32, etc, would all be good choices. Have him call the guys at PTE and get a recommendation.

For the motor I would send it to Exospeed. 2800 dollars for sleeves and a built motor is a heck of a deal.

my brother is running stock ls with sc61 with the smallest AR and he makes good power. he dynoed 270hp on stock motor. We are about to break down his motor and do a mild build on it consisting of pistons, rods, and block guard. We are expecting 400-450 hp with the new setup on 750 cc injectors. If you plans really wants to go all out on sleeving I would go AEBS block, looks like a sturdy design compared to the other sleeves. if he fully builds it he can expect to hit almost 500hp on it. On my old Gsr Setup I had golden eagle sleeves with 10:1 JE pistons and crower rods, rev valvetrain, and SC61 the biggest AR and I dynoed 535hp. he also needs to look into some vavle train to rev higher to take advantage of the turbo. hope thats helps.

Werd! He needs to check up on the valve train if he's trying to get up to 400. I also I think awhile back someone on H-t made 430 something on stock sleeves. I think he's name was cheesefrog.

Thanks for the replys

UPDATE He wants 350-400HP not 450HP as of right now. He wants to get the bottom end rebuilt but the turbo will be first and then hopefully he can get it done by June.

Also he is a big chrome guy. Under the hood everything is chromed but only under the hood. He likes how my Turbonetics t3/t4 is polished and will only do a polished turbo now that he has seen mine. Does Precision offer polishing to there turbos? If not what size T3/T4 would be good for stock and GREAT for rebuild? I was thinking a 57 trim with a .63A/R I don't know how to tell the difference between the other specs. Wheel size etc. So if someone can give the excact size or part # that would be good.

And yes I told him he needs the valvetrain so the turbo can really do it's job since our B18 has some shitty cams in it stock.

If he gets vtec, that'll make 350-400 alot easier to obtain (with lower boost that is). If you would like, click my cardomain link in the signature for parts and dyno charts. But nevertheless without vtec, if you get sleeved and throw a healthy dose of boost at it...350-400 should be quite easy haha.

Yeah you got a hell of a jump in HP with that VTEC head on there. Congrats. I seen your setup on that site before looks good.

thanks for the refferal

there are different viewpoints on what you need to do to prep a motor for that much hp. But to us, the best thing to do is to go a bit beyond what you plan to make. Build the engine to withstand more power than you plan to do. In this case, you know that if you decide to want more, you have the setup already to do so and it will be safe to achieve future goals.

Our race blocks are about $2800 and we use those in street and race cars making 500-800HP. Thats plenty enough for most people and that block setup is fully done to meet your HP goals.

You also have to consider, that while the foundation(the block) is important to achieve the goal, you need a matching turbo setup and engine management to tune the car properly.

a t3/t4 turbo will do the job in making 400-500hp. you dont need to go t4 or even a VTEC head to reach the goal. you can do it with the LS setup.

you mentioned valvetrain and thats a highly recommended part to upgrade. with the high rpm/high boost that is required to make that power. you dont want to rely on old stock valvetrain. you need an upgraded valvetrain to prevent valve float at the high rpm. Especially the valvetrain is under more stress than normal with the setup you plan on doing.
good luck and feel free to email or PM me for questions.

Wil
