Default Building an engine without taking it out of the car?

I just talked to my local shop which I have totally faith in, he said if you want to save money, we can put the forged rods and pistons in the car without taking it out? Also depends on what type of shape your engine is in. He also mentioned to use forged pistons that don't expand as much because your not going with a bore. Anyone ever had this done? My concern would be not matching the ring gap and burning oil all the time. My goal is about 300 whp from the D16Y8.

as far as puttin in rods and pistons yes you will be able to do that. But for your ring gap im not too sure you will go about doing that. Just deglaze the cylinder walls real well.
