Default Building a block....question for the experts.

Ok I was wondering what I have to do different with this setup since I'm putting together a block by pieces.

First I have a bare B16 block.
I also have a b16 crank, but from a different motor.

Now I've heard I have to run oversize bearings, is this true?
Also when I got my crank the guy sent me these supports that look like a U shape then flat at boths ends (what are these)?

I'm planing on learning alot with this build up. Hopefuly the hatch will be on it's way to boost

dont know about the bearings but the piece your describing sounds like the main caps that hold the crank in place...the bearings go inside these caps...hth

You don't need oversized bearings only if you machine the crank. The U shape supports are to bolt the crank to the block, no pic that's what I thinck or rod caps

half of the main bearing (5 total) is a simple U shaped
the other halves is U shaped with grooves running down in the middle for oil to pass on through

the rod bearing is all the same for all 8, each of them has a notch on one corner on one end.

yeah, that's the caps, there should be five of them, and each of them is numbered with an arrow pointing at one direction ( timing belt)

Thanks. The main caps was the object I was talking about.

So the bearings that go inside the caps should be replace with new ones right?

Also can I reuse the bolts that hold down the main caps or should I replace those?

are you putting everything together using the clearances in the helms manual? and using plastigauge and all those other tools to measure stuff? or are you just bolting stuff together? i REALLY want to learn how to build a block up. like, bare block to the point where you just bolt the head on. using aftermarket parts of course. anyone got any sites? or info?

Nice didn't see that on C-Speed's site. Good stuff

Right now I'm just trying to piece everything together , then after I collect all the parts I will start turning the wrench.
