Build up for moderate boost

Build up for moderate boost
Hello all,
I'm pretty sure I bent some valves today on my NA set-up, so I'm thinking I'll lightly build the bottom ond when I have the stock head put back on. How much power could I safely handle with pistons, rods and a blockguard? Is a blockguard fairly easy to install with the head off but the bottom end still in the car? I'd like to be able to run mid 13's on streets... could this set-up handle it?
Thanks,

Re: Build up for moderate boost (Etylorcen)
Sorry, I forgot this was on my second username without a sig. This would be on my 98 GSR with stock B18C1 head and block (except for the psions/rods/blockguard to be added.) I already have the Moroso oil pan and GReddy oil cooler installed and 270cc injectors (from NA set up) but nothing else I can think of that would a difference.
Thanks

Is there a reason not to use it besides the cost of the block guard itself? I have head they can comprimise cooling. I was just thinking it would provide an extra margin of safety and would be basically free to install since the head is going to have to come off anyways.

its not a good idea to install the block guard like that, cause once you tap it in,it can distort the cylinder bore which will really Fuc things up,the right way to install it would be to disassemble the engine, install block guard, then hone or bore cylinder out but like i said, you dont need it for 13s.

Well, I'm obviously no FI expert, but as I understand it a blockguard is typically a piece of aluminum that fits around the sleeves inside the block and prevents excessive flexing which can occur in a high performance application using an open deck design.

Point taken. If a correct install requires complete disassembly then it is out. What type of engine management would be required for 13's on street tires? How about fuel delivery? Will stock injectors or my 270's be sufficient?
Thanks so much for you help!

Re: Build up for moderate boost (Bert1)
Stock ECU should be fine along with a Rev Hard Turbo kit w/intercooler,which should include Fuel Pump..it might be a good idea to step up to 310cc injector to be on the safe side

Re: Build up for moderate boost (D-Man)
Would I idle acceptably with the stock ecu, 310's and Rev Hard kit? I idled very poorly after I got the 270's until I got chip reprogram, after which I could usually avoid stalling if I left the interior fan on but still didn't idle anywhere near perfectly. Thanks agina for the advice!
