Some of you probably know I used to own a time attack S2000. We'll I just got the opportunity to buy it back and I'll be slowly turning it into a drag car (for now). I got a lot of my old parts back with the car but they won't see the light of day for awhile. We immediately started tearing it down and cutting on the sheet metal and chassis.
Here's how it currently sits.

I couldn't really find a good engine bay shot. I had GT40 on it with custom exhaust and intake manifolds. There was also a swirl pot next to the intake manifold. Back then it made somewhere between 600 and 700whp. I dyno'd it at 615 on a dynojet but ran 6psi higher boost at the track.

That's actually a friends CRX this will be a true shop car.
Today I was able to remove the cage, cut out the passenger side floor pan where the exhaust will run, and finish removing every little nut, bolt, bracket, and plastic clip in perpetration for acid dipping. It doesn't look like much but it was a big step and a lot of work...
Curiosity got the best of me so I threw it on the scales before I packed up. The current weight is pretty arbitrary as there is a lot of cutting left to do and a lot of welding/rebuilding to come. I'm really curious how much more I can get out of it without sacrificing the portions of the chassis that provide the real stiffness. I think currently I'm at the point where most people would stop as the returns are getting smaller and smaller but I'm going for every ounce.

So I've decided my best move is going to be to send the car off to get acid dipped despite the 6-8 week lead time. I'm going to push this week to finish cutting whatever needs to be cut (since they will charge less for less material) and haul the car up there. In the mean time i'll be working on some parts for when I get it back. I've pretty much finished up the drawing for my intake manifold. I still need to get the throttle body I want to use (Nick Williams 102) to take some dimensions off of it and double check clearance with a friends car (since I don't have an engine to measure off). I'll probably get a start on the subframes as well.
