Build for nitrous....
Whats going on guys, I have a 7th gen civic D17a2(i know they're weak), but I am in the process of building it up for anywhere from 75-100 shot of nitrous. I have been told many different set ups that I need to go with. I just dont want to melt a piston or fry a valve, because thats common correct? So would I be fine getting new Valves, Valve springs, retainers, and Pistons and Rods and doing nothing else? I would be getting high compression pistons. People have told me I need to port and polish, need a new cam, upgraded fuel pump and other crap.....What is absolute and not necessarily needed? Thanks guys...
fuel is important, a pump is a nice mod.
port and polish definitely isn't necessary for safety, but won't hurt performance wise.
not an expert, but by "high compression pistons" if you mean pistons that will raise your compression, that doesn't sound right. You just need ones that will not melt, i.e. forged ones. If anything you should get pistons that'll lower your compression ratio, which will reduce your chance of detonation. As far as internal necessities, someone else is gonna have to chime in, i'm not sure.

i agree. concentrate on fuel and that'll allow the engine to last pretty long. rods and pistons are the most common things to go w/ FI engines.
I'm only running a 35shot on my b-series. But once i get the time to install my Walbro 255 lph HP fuel pump, Aeromotive FPR, Golden Eagle fuel rail, and SPA Technique dual digital fuel pressure/oil pressure gauge, i'm going to up it to atleast a 50-shot.

When using nitrous I would reccomend 10:1. Mostly because your not always able to use the shot for power, as with boost, so you are going to want as much N/A power as possible. purely for Drivability reasons. IMO.
The part list is as follows
10:1 forged pistons
Rods
That is all you need to do internally in order to run a real nice shot of juice.
100 & up
After that, it's all in your fuel & timing setup, which is the most important part of any setup. Do Not Skimp!!!
Ohh and you seem to be really worried about the valves frying. This is a lean burning condition; Read Extremely hot EGT's. Fuel cools your combustion chambers, If you are running 12:1 A/F when on the shot you WILL NOT BURN VALVES. N20 setups are notorious for running lean, if you don't run lean your stock valves will be fine.

Ok...everything seems to be clearing up now. But what about rods, why do some of you recommend rods? And for the record, I dont think, actually i know i wont run anything higher than a 100 shot.
if u wanna make as much power as possible off your 100 shot u should spend some cash on head work and good exhuast parts. head work should concetrate on your exhuast side. and a head gasket wouldnt hurt.
I ran a 75 shot on stock motor, then after I did my build I went to a 100 shot but had problems with a kink in the nitrous line. I go back on the the Dec 20 to get tuned again. I am hoping to go to 125 shot.

There is some info on my build up. I know I mentioned somewhere that I would be getting an MSD, but never did. I found that the stock ignition should be sufficient.

i wish girls would ask me to go on dates with them just to discuss all-motor theory

wouldn't the stock fuel system be a problem.
i have 7th gen civic and they do not have return lines to tap in to for the fuel to go with the nitrous. with out a fuel return line how is possible to raise the fuel pressure with out redoing your fuel lines. i think with a 100 shot it will for sure go lean. fuel system needs to be redone for sure.
let me know what you do maybe i will do it as well!
just my 2 cents don't quote me

wasnt making fun of you, lol. just wishing girls would ask me to converse over motors instead of their problems and ****, haha

Run a wet kit. Get some Rods and flat top pistons (nitrous does not like dome's) if you want to raise the comp. shave the head. I would never do that to my car but I know it works, just risky. Personally if you want more power just get a bigger jet. The header and exaust play a huge role but if all your running is a 50 shot there really is no need for any of that.
