Default Project D16Y8 Nitrous....motor almost in. (56k beware!)

My motor is almost in. Unfortunetly, I probably won't finish until Sunday or Monday because I only have time to work on it a couple hours a day right now and I have family coming in this weekend. I would have had it in by last Sunday, but I didn't know I had to notch the block to make the Eagle rods fit a D16Y8. When I first realized they didn't fit I was pretty pissed, because I was told they wouldn't require any notching when I bought them. I didn't know how to notch a block so it through me off, I had to do a little research on it and call Eagle themselves. I followed the directions from here. http://www.theoldone.com/artic..._tips/
By the time I had everything sorted out the weekend was over and I didn't have time to work on it until yesterday. It was the first time I ever notched a block and I think it went pretty well. It took a little over an hour.

Also, the Golden Eagle blockguard was a perfect fit. I don't see how it could warp the cylinder walls. It most likely happens when someone installs it wrong and hammers it in if it doesn't slip right in, instead of filing like they should. Mine needed no filing at all.

Here are some pics.

Me pulling out the head bolts.

The old motor. In excellent shape and been running a 75 shot for about a year.

Matt with his favorite tool, the Snap-On pry bar.

SRP Piston and Eagle Rod

In goes the built D16 (still SOHC ).

I also cleaned out my intake manifold real good, resurfaced the flywheel, and a bunch of other stuff. It will still be awhile before I'm running more than a 75 shot though, I still need to install my Hondata, get injectors, and save more money for tuning.

Everything looks great man! Good luck with the new engine...Hope it runs well.

On a side note, Emerika and I swapped this sucker in the other night. Runs like a champ.

Nice Mr. Thunderlips, what's in the motor, and did you paint that valve cover yourself or buy it? I like the color.

Ported head, JG cam, AEM cam gear, new clutch and pressure plate, new gaskets, etc.

The valve cover was a last second job by Emerika, he grabbed the can of Duplicolor wheel paint off my shelf and sprayed it. It's the graphite color in case you wanted to grab some.

Cool, I might just do my valve cover like that, and you taped the Honda letters and left them aluminum right?.

I had a wire wheel that I ground the paint off the letters afterwards.

And the entire engine is a Z6, mated to a Y8 tranny. I'm selling it soon, or else I'd build it up even more.

I'm thinking of just spending the extra money and getting the RC Engineering 440cc instead of using DSM's. Any opinions?

13's on street tires, hopefully 12's on slicks, with this heavy *** car I don't know though, we'll see.

Nice, I might just tape off the letters and then go around them with a model knife and paint.

Got a a little over an hour of work in on it at the early hours of this morning. Put the axels in, the other mounts, shift linkage, and a bunch of sensors in bottom end. Hopefully I can get the head on and finish up by tomorrow. We'll see though, I don't have much time to fit it in right now.

I just found a great price on the RC's that I can't pass up. 440cc, I'll be ordering them tomorrow.
