to build a B18B or B18C? that is the question
well i dont even have my turbo kit on yet but i am think way in the future.. what would everyone do? lets say u already have a turbo LS integra with standalone and u r ready to build the motor and turn up the boost.. would u A) use your B18B you already have and sleeve it, rods, pistons, etc or B) buy a B18C and do the same, sleeves, rods, pistons...
the B18C will obviously make more power but it will also cost u more to build it and buy it..
if u were to swap a GSR in a LS/SE what all would u need to go with it just oil pump? water pump? u wouldnt need an ECU if u r standalone right?

Re: to build a B18B or B18C? that is the question (Ray)
i agree with ray. think about the pros and cons. ls motors have lower compression, which is better for turbo. downside is that when you build it, you cant tach it as high as a gsr motor, but you have alot more torque. then people would say to get a gsr motor cause you can lower the compression and prep it for turbo. and since a gsr has vtec, its an additional plus. or you can get an ls motor and convert it to lsvtec. then people will say its not as reliable. all i got to say is... go with the best combo suited for your needs. one motor is not going to get you more power than the other. its how you build it!
personally... id get the ls motor and make it lsvtec. build it right... slap on a turbo kit... and youll blow alot of ls and gsr motors away.

personally i think if a LS motor reved to 8000 like the GSR and they both had cam gears tuned the GSR would make slightly more power only becuase the head flows better.. is there anyway to make a B18B rev that high? safely and reliably of course..

due to the longer stroke of a LS I would keep the Rpms lower due to the high piston speeds. Of course you CAN rev an LS to 8,000+ rpm but unless you have vtec it would just wear the piston rings more.

How about just buying another b18a/b block and building that one then you can just slap your head on that or you could even get another ls head. **** high mileage ls motors go cheap

Re: (espanol)
Of course you can rev an ls shortblock to 9000 if the internals are built. **** r/s ratio if your rods/sleeves etc are all aftermarket strong goodies.. I'd say go for it.

Re: (ben@importparts.com)
I rev my built LS Turbo to 8600 and it cover some ground all the way there! High reving LS motors are definatley possible, they have to be well balanced like any motor and have some cams to make it work up top also. Im running REV valvetrain with .5mm OS valves and Crower 402Ts and love it. I am a firm beleiver in LS motors
