Default Broken bolt =(

Well i havent had any luck for the past 2 weeks and this just added to my troubles. As i was putting my car back to stock, i was looking around my t3 and was looking to where oil could be leaking from and going on my manifold, causing smoke to engulf my engine bay when moving. I started checking the bolts and noticed that two of them were loose. The two were the small bolts in the middle section holding the backplate to the compressor wheel.

Well, thinking that was the problem, i overtightened one of them and snapped it. Its the four 10mm bolts, if people dont understand what i'm saying. So after much cursing and yelling, i remembered that i had a screw extractor, but there was no way to get to the screw without having to take the turbo apart. I took my compressor housing off and took the remaing three 10mm bolts off. Still no luck getting to it unless i take the shaft off. BUT i noticed that the wheel is a lot harder to turn now. SOO, can anyone help me out as to take it apart and get the wheel to spin freely?

TIA for any help you can give me....

<~~ Wishes he never sold the greddy kit

Do you have any pics of what you're talking about?

I would guess that the housing is just unseated and cocked to one side. That could be why the wheels don't spin freely. Once it is all reassembled it should be fine. Try tapping the housing lightly to seat it while you put it back together.

Are you sure you can't get the compressor housing off without taking the wheel off? Everyone I've seen , you could take the compressor housing off the backplate and leave the wheel on.

well i got some pics...not the best quality but hopefully it'll clear things up...
the bolt is inside the hole of the center section that bolts to the compressor side...

Behind this are 4 bolts connecting the center section to it...one of them is broken and i dont know how to get to it unless i can take the blade/shaft off?

those wheels are balanced, so if you take it off you'd either need to get it re-balanced or get a new shaft/wheels

you must remove the comp wheel to remove the backplate. they are correct, the wheels are balanced and must be rebalanced when reassembled.
the backplate holds the thrust bearing in place. it sounds as if the thurst bearing is out of place and somewhat riding on the shaft(slowing movement) from the backplate being loose.
hope this helps.
