Default Breaking a Rod?

how many have ruined their rods bc of one reason or another?

please list a basic setup and type of rod. (and what happened)

I am thinking of using LS rods in my d series, I have never heard of a b series rod breaking. It has always been d series rods breaking or sleeves cracking.

Thanks,.

B16A rods are better suited to the D sereis... www.theoldone.com has a how-to article of how to get them in...

I have a buddy who just broke an eagle rod at 200whp in a ITR. I cant beleive anyone would run these on boost if they broke at only 200whp. He isnt sure where and why it broke yet but I bet it was the rod bolts that broke.

poor tuning can break any rods any amount of HP...Eagles are god rods and a stronger than stock....either your friend had factory defects or really bad detonation.

tuning can always be an issue of course. He is running Hondata and has been tuned by SFP fairly conservative. We are not sure of exactly what happened yet but i will let you know.

I would bet that it was a problem with the bolt torque, he either overtorqued them so they yielded and started a crack which propagated under load or he undertorqued them and they fatigued from the high cyclic loads.
