Default Braided oil return line and Missing Link???

OK. I'm running the RevHard Stage 2 kit on my 92 GS. It came with a rubber oil return line. I was driving today and I scraped the bottom of my car splitting the line. How hard is it to upgrade to a braided oil return line? Also, the car stutters when I hit full throttle. Is it a bad check valve allowing my MAP sensor to see boost. Should I get the Missing Link bypass valve? Turbo life sucks for me right now. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need a oil discharge flange and gasket. It looks like this. Its a 1/2" drain flange.

Then for the hoses and earl fittings you will need to get them from either http://www.anpluming.com or http://www.bakerprecision.com

You need:
-10 braided hose
1/2 to -10AN (either a 45 or 90 degree swival)

The Missing Link is a good device... on my old turbo CRX (before the Missing Link was invented!) I used an HKS Fuel Cut Defenser set to 0. Worked like a charm, a bit more "sophisticated" than a check valve if you're into that type of thing.

from the pic, how do you hook up the An fitting from the steel braided lines to the oil discharge flange ?

I did my home work, you'll need
1- 10An stainless braided lines about a foot...the red fittings comes with the lines..
1- 10An hose end 90 deg
1- 10An to 1/2" NPT (45 deg) male from the oil pan to the lines
1- Brass 1/2" NPT female fittings (to weld in the oil pan)

but still, how do you connect the 10AN hose end 90deg to the oil discharge flange ? because mine is the same as the pic but has about 2-3" of steel pipe and it looks like it needs a clamp..

thanks

A write up of this would be nice.... I am not familiar with fittings, sizes, hoses, etc. at all and am attempting to do this during the week.

hey art where do you get that flange at? thats dustins pan right? looks like he just welded a male AN fitting to the pan...

how is it that greddy attacks this? seeing as they claim the kit requires no welding?

do they use a flange similiar to the one pictured, but hold it down w/ bolts?

I think I can help on this on. Greddy Kit but most turbo kits share the same parts.
To upgrade the oil return line you will need do the following:
from the turbo weld an -10 an steel fitting (male) on the end of the output tube.
re-attach the output tube to the turbo with the new fitting you just added on. Be sure to use a new gasket.
Remove your oil pan and drill a 7/8 hole near the top of the pan so oil does not back up into the tubing. Location of hole depends on the kit used, so measure twice and drill once.
Install a -10 an bulkhead fitting into the previously drilled hole. Install it with the nut on the outside just incase you might need to tighten it up later.
Re-install the oil pan with new gasket.
Ok, now you have two an fittings ready for a steel braided line. one on the bottom of the turbo and one on the oil pan.
Insert a -10 straight an fitting into the steel braided line and tighten it down.
Attach this straight end to the turbo an fitting you welded on.
Form the steel braided line to the bulkhead fitting in the oil pan. Measure for distance.
Attach a 90° -10 an fitting to the bulkhead fitting and measure the length of the steel braided line required.
Cut the braided line to the exact length needed with the 90° fitting.
Remove the 90° fitting from the oil pan and and attach the fitting to the steel braided line.
Now attach the hose to the bulkhead fitting for the final step.
Now you have a leak free oil return line that will not give you any problems
I did my turbo this way so I would not have any oil leaks in my driveway.

PressurizedSi, can you provide pics or a diagram of the install? I am having trouble identifying which part is what.... again, I am not familiar with fittings and such. It would help also if you can tell us what kind of material these fittings are made from, i.e: brass, steel, etc.

Thanks

What type of hose ends are needed? There seems to be several types available. Also, mentioned above are "brass" NPT fittings.... better to go with "steel" instead?

Thanks
