Default is the bov supposed to be open at idle?

ok, i just did a couple searches, and people are saying different things. some say that the bov should be open, and some say closed, at idle. to me it makes sense for it to be open, since the engine is in vaccum at the time, and vaccum is what causes it to open between shifts. i have a vortech bov and it's completely closed at idle. should i loosen it up, or is this normal?

i'm having a problem with my car not going into boost https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1858315. is it possible for the bov to stick open when i drive the car, releasing the air? there is no loose piping/couplers or vaccum hoses and the dp seems to be working ok. i'm running out of ideas on why the car won't build pressure. the vaccum will go very close to 0, and the needle won't go any farther.

IMO is ok for the bov to be open at idle for the reasons you said, but if you are having problems with boost/boost leak you have to tighten the spring until its ok, and it probably will not be open at idle anymore. if the bov is not open at idle, i cant even tell the difference.

They say it should be adjusted to the point where it is just closed at idle. When you are boosting and let off the throttle there is still pressure in the charge pipes that along with the vacuum signal post throttle body cause the valve to open. At idle you don't have that pressure in the charge piping. I guess its possible for pressure to be bleeding off the valve but probably not likely. Are you hearing a rush of air when you try to boost? Do you hear exhaust coming from the wastegate?

My rfl bov is open during idle. I am sure it is suppose to open during vaccum and close during boost.

It's fine for it to be open at idle, but once you blip the throttle even a tiny bit it should close. The amount of vacuum you have at idle is what's keeping it open.
