BOV sounds sick after turbo filter install
I installed my turbo filter last night and my BOV now sounds sick. Not sick like good sick more like in the hospital with the flu sick. Much softer and a different tone. Is the filter stopping the much flow that it would cut down the amount of pressure making it to the BOV?

its completely normal.
when the turbo is pulling air thru the filter into the turbo it created an extremely strong vacuum in the intake pipe. when u let off the throttle this pressure is released and makes a 'hiccup' noise.
so basically, dont worry about it

Re: (RedTegLS)
get rid of that filter it will definilety cause the problem. Get a nice high flow type filter. Those are cheaply made and dont flow worth squat.

Re: BOV sounds sick after turbo filter install (CoupeSI)
Not to Hijack the thread but im also noticed a big change in my sound by using the exact same setup you have. Im using a bend about the same length with that same kind of filter. I had a k&n but the flange ripped so I slapped that on for the moment.
It sounds fine at partial boost, no flutter at all. Heres the problem when i give it gas about 75% throttle when i let off It lets out a single "Ching" metal sound no Wooooshhh. My bov isnt tight, its set soft, not leaking, and it has adequate vacuum.
Friend thinks its Compressor Surge but im 100% certain its not, Im going to pull the filter off tonight and see if the sounds goes away.
Btw RedTegLs what bov is this, Im using Greddy Type s

Okay I figured it was just this shitty Filter, Im gonna get another K&N soon.
Redtegls im sure your running this filter because of fitment issues, but heres what im doing: Im going to buy a K&N 3" filter, and a 90 silicone elbow or 90 cast elbow and use the space in between block and fans

Apexi, i got one with my bb kit for my d16 and it was a really nice filter
i believe there was a writeup on the supraforums or something like that with a comparison and apexi won hands down for flow and filtration as well as no maintenence.

Re: (Jkan2001)
After leaving for lunch I have an update on teh sound. It sounds like a short tire squeal! Screech. There is no PSSHHH just the squeal. Can someone clarify how a filter would cut down on the blow off?
